Oh, the shame the Rock Snob brain trust feels when a Snob reader nails us so completely that we can't even morally get away with making fun of said reader! Such is the case with Beth Hamer of London, England, who notes that in our entry for "jangle" [p. 54], we say the sixties-minted guitar sound later became popular among "studenty English bands (such as the Smiths and Belle and Sebastian)." As Beth sagely reminds us, "Any fool knows that Belle and Sebastian are most definitely Scottish."

Our mistake is all the more appalling since one of us is a former member of a Scottish jangle group! (In the linked photo, he's the one on the far right, peering out wistfully from beneath his cockatiel hairdo.) In the words of CNN's Jeff Greenfield (who shall never again be mentioned on this site), "Oh, waiter, two orders of crow, please!"
